Chemistry, Elements and Compounds; How They React

Workshops for 4th and 5th graders, conducted by Ryan Penhallurick

Students will learn about the reactions, properties and applications of the chemical world with a strong emphasis towards hands-on experimentation and critical thinking. A wide range of experiments covering organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, solid-state chemistry and biochemistry will be conducted under the guidance of our resident chemist. Examples of what will be conducted in the laboratory include synthesis of a low-voltage semiconductor for use as a solar cell, polymer formation and the glow stick reaction, among others.
