We continued with analyzing a Ted talk by David Christian on Big History, History of the World in 18 minutes. I very much encourage you to view to it too!

With the remaining time we put together a baking soda and vinegar rocket! We discussed how the reaction creates carbon dioxide which builds up pressure in the bottle, before ejecting the stopper and launching the bottle. We invoked Newton’s 3rd law to describe this phenomenon. 
One of the students filmed the launch which will allow us next week to frame-by-frame determine the launch Force using Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion.
