Imagining a Mars base

Today we looked at the terrestrial planets and compared them to earth. We talked about how they were different with an eye toward finding one with the potential to send a human. This involved discussing density, gravitation, atmosphere, and the magnetic field.

We then spent a brief part of the lesson designing a base for our humans. Most of the discussion on this revolved around the location. We decided we would definitely put it on Mars, but where on the planet was an interesting question. The boys thought a lot about this and will be going to discuss their thoughts on meeting the needs of the humans in their base next week.
